
Braxton County elementary and middle school students recently participated in the county-wide West Virginia State Science and Engineering Fair which provides opportunities for students to contemplate problems to solve in the real world. The following students won on the county level and were selected to complete in the regional fair held in Ronceverte, WV:
Tracy Chenoweth, Federal Programs Director of Braxton County Schools, stated, "We are incredibly proud of our students and the dedication they showed during the STREAM Fair process. The time, creativity, and perseverance they invested in their projects truly reflect their commitment to learning. Experiences like this not only build academic skills, but also problem-solving abilities that will serve these students well in their future education and careers."

Braxton County Pre-K Head Start Registration for the 2026-2027 school year is happening today at the Braxton County Board of Education Office!
Registration hours are 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. – 5 p.m.
The Pre-K Head Start staff, along with a school nurse, will be available to assist families with paperwork and answer any questions about enrollment and program services. Families will receive fantastic giveaways, including: book bags, books, age-appropriate educational games, crayons, science kits, alphabet letter, etc.
Our Pre-K Head Start program provides a strong foundation for early learning!

BCMS Wrestling will start on Monday, November 10th from 4 to 6 pm with a parent meeting immediately following the first practice. All students are required to have an annual sports physical completed and a 2.0 or higher GPA for the previous semester to be able to participate.

Braxton County Middle School Girls Basketball will be having flex practice Tuesday, October 28th and Thursday, October 30th from 6 to 8 pm at the middle school. Girls basketball tryouts will be held on Monday, November 3rd and Tuesday, November 4th from 4 to 6 pm. Boys basketball will have tryouts on Monday, November 10th and Tuesday, November 11th from 4 to 6 pm. All students are required to have an annual sport physical completed and turned in to the school or coach before they can participate in practice or tryouts. Students are also required to have a 2.0 or higher GPA semester average from the previous semester to be eligible to play any sport. If you have questions, please contact the school at 304-765-2644.

Flatwoods Wendy's is hosting a community day. A percentage of all sales will go to the Braxton County Knights Football team. This will happen on Thursday, August 14, 2025. Come out for breakfast, lunch or dinner and support the Braxton Knights.

This is a notice to parents of upcoming 7th grade BCMS students. WV state law requires all upcoming 7th graders to show proof of the following vaccines. Tdap and Meningococcal vaccine. Students will not be permitted the first day of school without proof of these vaccinations. These can be obtained through your child's pediatrician, local health department, care express, and community care.
