Today was a fantastic day here at Braxton County Middle School. The start of the 2025-2026 school year is looking really good. Braxton County Middle School Girls Basketball will be having flex practice Tuesday, October 28th and Thursday, October 30th from 6 to 8 pm at the middle school. Girls basketball tryouts will be held on Monday, November 3rd and Tuesday, November 4th from 4 to 6 pm. Boys basketball will have tryouts on Monday, November 10th and Tuesday, November 11th from 4 to 6 pm. All students are required to have an annual sport physical completed and turned in to the school or coach before they can participate in practice or tryouts. Students are also required to have a 2.0 or higher GPA semester average from the previous semester to be eligible to play any sport. If you have questions, please contact the school at 304-765-2644.
Braxton County Middle School will be having a Red Ribbon Week spirit week Monday, October 27th through Friday, October 31st.

Braxton County Middle School will be having a Pink Out Challenge day tomorrow, Thursday, October 23rd. All staff and students are encouraged to wear pink and spread awareness.
We have a large collection of misplaced items at BCMS. If your student is missing items, please ask them to check the benches in the main hallway.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, October 4th is a Professional Learning day for all Braxton County staff. Students do not attend school on that day. Again, there is no school for students on Wednesday, October 4th. Thank you and have a great evening.

Braxton County Middle School will be having parent teacher conferences on Monday, September 22nd from 4 to 6 pm. Appointments are not needed. We will also be having a parent volunteer training from 4 to 5:30 that evening. Please make plans to attend.
Flatwoods Wendy's is hosting a community day. A percentage of all sales will go to the Braxton County Knights Football team. This will happen on Thursday, August 14, 2025. Come out for breakfast, lunch or dinner and support the Braxton Knights.
This is a notice to parents of upcoming 7th grade BCMS students. WV state law requires all upcoming 7th graders to show proof of the following vaccines. Tdap and Meningococcal vaccine. Students will not be permitted the first day of school without proof of these vaccinations. These can be obtained through your child's pediatrician, local health department, care express, and community care.

Braxton County Middle School football sign-ups will be held tomorrow evening, May 29th at 6 PM in the BCMS cafeteria.
Braxton County Middle School will be conducting GSA testing Thursday, May 15th through Tuesday, May 20th. Please make every effort to have your student to school before 8 AM and to have their laptops fully charged to ensure that they are able to complete testing. Social studies texts books are open to review.
In accordance with the application guidelines set by the West Virginia Department of Education, the Braxton County School District is submitting this Notice of Intent to apply for the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Program Grant. One grant application will be submitted to support Braxton County High School and Braxton County Middle School, while another will be submitted to support the six elementary schools: Burnsville Elementary, Davis Elementary, Flatwoods Elementary, Frametown Elementary, Little Birch Elementary, and Sutton Elementary. This grant will fund academic remediation and enrichment activities during non-school hours, as well as provide a wide range of additional services, programs, and activities designed to complement the regular academic curriculum. The 21st CCLC programs will also offer families opportunities for meaningful engagement in their child’s education, including literacy and other educational development opportunities. The application will be available for public review upon submission. For input on the program, please contact Dr. Leatha G. Williams at the Braxton County Board of Education or any principal at your local school.
The BCMS Literacy Fair is canceled for today and will be rescheduled at a later date.

Bus 42A, Arnold Bender's bus, will not be running out Oil Creek Rd. past the low water bridge this afternoon due to flooding. If you live past the low water bridge, please call the school to make arrangements for your student.
