In accordance with the application guidelines set by the West Virginia Department of Education, the Braxton County School District is submitting this Notice of Intent to apply for the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Program Grant. One grant application will be submitted to support Braxton County High School and Braxton County Middle School, while another will be submitted to support the six elementary schools: Burnsville Elementary, Davis Elementary, Flatwoods Elementary, Frametown Elementary, Little Birch Elementary, and Sutton Elementary. This grant will fund academic remediation and enrichment activities during non-school hours, as well as provide a wide range of additional services, programs, and activities designed to complement the regular academic curriculum. The 21st CCLC programs will also offer families opportunities for meaningful engagement in their child’s education, including literacy and other educational development opportunities. The application will be available for public review upon submission. For input on the program, please contact Dr. Leatha G. Williams at the Braxton County Board of Education or any principal at your local school.


The BCMS Literacy Fair is canceled for today and will be rescheduled at a later date.

The Literacy Fair that was planned for this evening, Friday, April 4th will be rescheduled.

Bus 42A, Arnold Bender's bus, will not be running out Oil Creek Rd. past the low water bridge this afternoon due to flooding. If you live past the low water bridge, please call the school to make arrangements for your student.

Braxton County Middle School's 3rd nine weeks report cards were sent home with students today, Wednesday, April 2nd.

Braxton County Middle School will be conducting a test of the new emergency alert system. We will be having a fire drill tomorrow, March 21st between 10 and 11 AM, and the system may send out a notification to parents. Please note that this is only a drill and there is no actual emergency.

Braxton County Middle School will be having parent teacher conferences tomorrow, Thursday, March 6th from 4 to 6 pm. Appointments are not required.

The Braxton County Social Studies Fair is underway🥳🥳. We are going to have the best Saturday ever.





BCMS spring sports will begin practice on Monday, March 3rd. Track and Softball will practice at the middle school from 4-6 pm. Baseball will practice at the middle school from 6-8 pm. Students must have a completed sports physical on file at school and at least a 2.0 GPA for the 1st semester to be eligible to participate. Activity buses will be running for the early practices, and the bus schedules can be found on the Braxton County Board of Education website.

Students that qualified for county Math Field Day are invited to attend on Thursday, February 13.
Elementary students are allowed to ride their bus to the high school or can be parent drop off. Middle school students will walk up to the high school after they eat breakfast at their school. All parents are welcome to attend the awards at 2 o’clock.


7th Grade Non-Traditional Day Assignment
Day Five - Write an argument defending your preference of living in an area with a colder climate versus an area with a warmer climate (think Alaska vs. Florida)
All written assignments will be turned in to the 1st period teacher.

6th Grade Non-Traditional Assignment
Build something out of household items. You could build a fort, a creature, a piece of furniture, anything! You could use blankets, pillows, rolls of toilet paper, Legos, pots, pans, ANYTHING! Draw a picture of your creation and measure its height and width.
